Today we have some interesting photos from Joe in Switzerland. He bought our FJ bumper along with an Engo 12000lb winch but had to deal with some interesting requirements to install it in Switzerland. I'll quote Joe below:
"HERE SOME PICTURES OF MY TOYOTA FJ CRUISER 2007 FOR FREE USE.
IN SWITZERLAND IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO INSTALL A WINCH. THERE ARE SOME CONDITIONS:
THE CAR MUST BE PRODUCED BEFORE 2010
ALL PARTS WHO COULD BLESS PEDESTRIANS, MUST BE PROTECTED (SHACKLE MOUNTS!)
WINCH-OPENINGS HAVE TO BE SMALLER THAN 80 MM
THE OPENING ITSELF HAS TO BE CLOSED BY A GRID
SO, THAT WAS A REAL CRUX!! I SPENT HOURS BY SEARCHING A PROTECTION FOR THE SHACKLE MOUNTS…
BY ACCIDENT I FOUND AN ADVERTISEMENT OF A SMALL 3-D-PRINTING COMPANY, CALLED “EXAPARTS”, ONLY 5 KM AWAY. I ONLY HAD TO DESIGN THE PROTECTOR IN 3D AND TO DAYS LATER I COULD INSTALL THE PROTECTORS MADE OF
STRONG PLASTIC MATERIAL.
BY THE WAY: THEY CAN PRINT ALMOST ANY RARE SPECIAL PART FOR CAR INTERIOR / EXTERIOR OR RESTORATION.
THE TOTAL DISMANTLING AND MANTLING OF YOUR BUMPER AND THE ENGO 10’000 WINCH TOOK 3 ½ HOURS.
MOST OF THE TIME I SPENT BY UNSCREW THE TOYOTA FRONT STEEL PROFILE… AN INCREDIBLE BODY-BUILDING EXECISE!
THE FITTING ACCURACY AND THE WORKMANSHIP OF YOUR FRONT BUMPER IS AMAZING!
THE SHACKLES MADE OF STAINLESS STEEL I FOUND IN AN ENGLISH YACHT OUTFITTER."
So, a very neat way of dealing with his country's laws and requirements. Very nice job!
